I Have a Lot of Favorites...

Kids @ Wedding

...but this portrait is in my top 3 for the day. I'm sure it's because of the people in the photo as much as anything, but it's still one of my favorites.

Want to see more favorites? Click here.

(I obviously have a lot of pictures - so I'm starting with portraits of just the bride and groom. Watch for more in coming days. As well as the family sessions I put on hold to get the wedding pictures finished by my deadline.)

If you were a wedding guest and need access to the gallery, it will be activated tomorrow morning. Email me if you no longer have your card from the wedding with the gallery info and password - macy [at] macyrobisonphotography [dot] com.

SYTYCD - Top 6 Results Show

WHAT is Cat wearing? Good grief. Awful dress, awful makeup. Hate the hair. The shoes are cool, but that's about it. Yikes. I thought she looked amazing last night, and then tonight...yeeouch.

Opening Group Number - that was really beautiful. I used to hate that song until I had the chance to sing it. That song paired with the movement was really great. Very nice.

Girls results first. Jeanine is first, but Cat is making us wait until she talks with all the girls. And Jeanine is in the finale! Oh, I'm glad. Over the course of the whole season, she definitely deserves it.

We're bringing back the Emmy nominated pieces from last season. Jessica & Will! Awesome. I love Will. Such an amazing dancer and performer. Jessica had so much potential last season and she never quite exploded like she should have.

Guys results are up. And Brandon is in the finale! I'm so glad they didn't make me wait to find that out. Dial Idol had him clearly picked as the top vote getter from the guys last night. The accuracy of Dial Idol will show up in the girls' votes. They have Kayla as getting more votes than Jeanine.

The door routine! I was listening to this song earlier. I love this dance. Woo hoo! I remember seeing it at a YW activity for the first time. It was awesome. I remember all the girls all gasped when Katee and Twitch kissed.

Another Emmy routine - Chelsie & Joshua's tango. Man, there were some fabulous dancers last season. Great dancers with great personalities and performance skills.

Same solos from last night. Yawn. Jabbawockeez!! I love these guys. I actually voted for them on America's Best Dance Crew. Their isolations and formations are amazing.

BLEEDING LOVE! Awesome. Super Kimmie still has this episode of SYTYCD on her DVR from last year because she likes this dance so much. As do I. We all screamed at the tour when the briefcase came out on the stage. I get chills every time he takes her "heart" out and he looks at her before he leaves. Every time.

I'm NOT watching that crazy solo of Kayla's again. I will, however, watch Evan. Maybe I'll watch Evan twice.

Sean Paul? Really? Why don't they just have more people dance? I think the only musical guest I've watched this season was Kelly Clarkson.

Final results for the girls - Kayla is through to the finale, just like Dial Idol said she was. Melissa is going home. Bummer. I like her. Awww. She's crying. I'm so excited to see that Tyce Diorio breast cancer dance with her on tour.

Final results for the guys - This is the one I'm interested in. EVAN!!! YES!!!! Look how cute his family is! I think Molly's comment on yesterday's blog was spot on - he had the most difficult time adjusting his style. He could be brilliant or dreadful depending on the routine. They're showing his highlights - The pick routine! I forgot about that one. I hope they do that one on tour.

So, it's Jeanine, Brandon, Kayla & Evan. That should make for a good show next week. What do you think of the final 4? Leave a comment, and let me know.

SYTYCD - Top 6 Performance Show

Cat Fashion Watch - Extremely cool little blue shift dress. Love it. Love the color on her. And we combed and straightened our hair. Nice.

Can't believe we're down to 6. That's nuts. I can't say I'm happy to see Kayla. This week is killer. People often get injured at this point. Two partner dances, a group number and a solo.

Guys Group Number (Choreography by Sonya Tateh)
Sonya says the Willy Wonka boys need to embrace their power. She's a trip. I really liked that routine. Loved the pictures she created. It was interesting choreography for three male dancers. I don't usually like Sonya's stuff on first viewing, but I really liked it. I've liked her last couple routines. I don't know if it's her or me, but something has changed. :) Nice compliment to Evan. He was present in the routine, and like Lil' C said, he could have been swallowed up. Mary and Nigel liked it as well.

I love Lil' C. I don't care what anyone says.

Jeanine & Ade - Samba ("Love Game" by Lady GaGa- choreography by Louis Van Amstel)
This is a great partnership. I'm excited to see them dance together. Hmm. Didn't love that routine. Trying too hard to be sexy, maybe? It seemed jumpy too. Mary gave them a pretty specific drubbing. All the judges loved Jeanine, but Ade got reamed.

Kayla - "You Found Me" by The Fray
Frantic crazy kicking. Now down the floor. Good grief, girl! Did we learn nothing from Jason's elimination? From all the close calls you have had? Too much moving! Crazy. Not a fan.

Melissa & Evan - Broadway ("Get Me to the Church on Time" from My Fair Lady - choreography by Tyce Diorio)
Oh dear. I don't know about this. I'm glad they drew Broadway. I always worry when I hear that Tyce has a "story," but this worked because it was a jazz version of the song. I really liked it. Lil' C was disappointed, but "I really thought you were great tonight, yes I did!" First double positive! We even got one from Nigel.

Ade - "18th Floor Balcony" by Blue October
He's amazing, but we've got the frantic movement again. It's not musical to me. I get so frustrated when I see solos like this one and like Kayla's.

Kayla & Brandon - Contemporary ("All I Want" by Ahn Trio - choreography by Stacey Tookey)
WOW. That was some amazing choreography. And a great performance. That leap from Brandon in the middle was amazing. Just amazing technique. Can I say amazing again? I didn't connect with the story, but it was an intense routine and I liked it a lot. Quote from Diggity, "There are compartments on the Hot Tamale Train? I didn't realize there was a first class cabin." I didn't realize he was listening.

Melissa - "I Put A Spell On You" by Nina Simone
I love her strategy with solos lately. She's picking groovy music and she can obviously choreograph in a musical fashion, unlike Ade and Kayla. Loved that sign in the audience, "It's Melisser!"

Jeanine & Ade - Hip Hop ("Move" by MIMS - Napoleon & Tabitha choreography)
That was fun. They hit everything really well. Very cute. Cute props. Tabitha and Napoleon are so creative. It was a fun routine. Mary's been evicted?

Brandon - "O'Fortuna" from Carmina Burana
Now. This was quick movement in a solo as well. Leap, jump, flip, kick, killer-awesome-turn at the end. But I loved it. Why did I love it? BECAUSE IT WENT WITH THE MUSIC. It was technically amazing AND musical. It had flow and extension. He was dancing, not just doing steps. And he got himself a standing ovation from the judges and the audience. That was fantastic. 1-888-TEMPO-04

Melissa & Evan - Quickstep ("As Long As I'm Singin'" by Brian Setzer Orchestra - choreography by Louis Van Amstel)
FUN! I hate the quickstep, and I love this. Fun personality from both of them and it was great choreography. Evan was much better in this than in his own style. Though this choreography brings him very close to his own style. Super cute. I'm so glad Mary has brought back the double positives! I love them! She bashed the technique again. Nigel and Lil' C were pretty positive.

Jeanine - "Feedback" by Janet Jackson
She's great. Just so cute. It wasn't my favorite solo for her, but I liked it better than Kayla's.

Evan - "The Lady is a Tramp" by Sammy Davis Jr.
That's my favorite solo from him. That was outstanding. It makes me giggle when he dances because I think he's just SO CUTE. And so talented. And I love Gene Kelly so much, so when he looks that much like Gene Kelly when he dances, I giggle even more. Okay. I'm done.

Kayla & Brandon - Disco ("Dance (Disco Heat)" by Sylvester - choreography by Doriana Sanchez)
I liked it. I wanted to love it more. I loved it until they got to the middle with the sequence of lift after lift after lift. They lost momentum coming out of some of them for me. When you see with your ears? Wow. And wow that I actually understand what he's saying. That music rhythm pocket is kind of hard to explain. He didn't explain it very well, but I know what Mary - Holy smokies?! And then she was ready to rumble. Oh, Nigel. You're a funny one. Cat's comments are still my favorite - "Nigel! What did I tell you? You have to take the tablets! Take the tablets!"

That was a fantastic Glee commercial. See more clips from the upcoming season here.

Girls Group Number - Contemporary by Sonya Tayeh
A super hero dance. Okay. Awesome costumes. Love that their initials are on their belts. I didn't love that song, but the dance was great. So much fun. Mary knows about Comic Con? Wow. What is Nigel drinking in that magic blue cup tonight? I'm glad he pointed out the tutu on Melissa's costume. So fun. A little awkward that he pointed out Jeanine's lace up part to her costume.

Okay, everyone. Votes are important tonight. Based on the dancing, I would say it's going to be Ade and Jeanine going home. I just love Melissa. I love her even more tonight. She separated herself from Jeanine for me tonight. And Brandon. We must vote for Brandon. Evan did really well on his dances and as much as I'm not and have never been a Kayla fan, Kayla was better on the partner dances tonight.

Now, watching the recaps, I agree with myself. Diggity agrees with me too. Here's my voting priority order tonight:

Melissa 1-888-TEMPO-03
Brandon 1-888-TEMPO-04
Evan 1-888-TEMPO-06
Kayla 1-888-TEMPO-01

Bikes

Grammy showed him how to honk the horn on the tricycle.

I'm not sure what he thought this would accomplish, but it sure was cute.

And then a "crazy bike ride" with Grandpa Toad.

Basically a perfect evening in Utah.

I ♥ Faces - Week 29

The theme for the week over at I Heart Faces is "At the Beach."

My entry was taken earlier this month while we were visiting our family in the Washington D.C. area. We spent a day at the beach in Maryland and it was such fun watching my son and nephews explore everything. Here's my favorite shot of my little beach bum of a nephew:

Beach Bum

I can't wait to see the other entries! Do you have a beach picture? Want to see more beach pictures? Head on over to I Heart Faces and check this out this week's contest!

Happy Pioneer Day!

We're here in the land of Deseret celebrating Pioneer Day today! It's kind of fun to be here with all the celebrations going on.

My friend Grettir wrote this hilarious post in honor of Pioneer Day a couple years ago. If you've never lived in Utah, you may chuckle and smile politely as you read it. If you've lived in Utah for any amount of time, you just might laugh out loud. Either way, I feel it's worth a read:

Oh, Pioneer Day

SYTYCD - Top 8 Results Show + 100th Episode

Dear Cat - I love your fun, sassy hair! I have no opinion on your dress because I can't yet see it clearly. Okay. I like it. Sassy leopard/tiger print. Cute.

Opening Number - "One" from A Chorus Line
Cracked mirrors. White suits. Red carpet. Weird funhouse vibe and twist on the original choreography. I LOVE IT. Stooopid cameras! Show us the whole stage!

Look at all the former dancers from prior seasons! Awww....I love it. So cute.

Highlight reel from the last 4 seasons! This is going to make me happy. I have watched this show from Day 1 and loved every second. You should know that I am YELLING dancers' names as I see them. I'm also screaming "I love her!" and "I love him!" Wow. Look how much Mary's hair/face/look has changed.

Highlight reel from last night! Ellen was hilarious. Great to see highlights from Melissa & Ade's piece again. It really was so beautiful.

Girls Results:
Melissa is...safe.
She switched up the order! What?!
Kayla is...in the bottom 2.
Jeanine is...safe! Woo hoo!
Janette is in the bottom 2. Super Kimmie totally called it.

Season 3 Flashback - Jamie and Hok are performing the Hummingbird and the Flower by Wade Robson. Molly and Kimmie haven't seen this dance, so it's kind of fun to watch it with them. They loved it, as they should. What a beautiful dance! So glad they did this one again.

Guys Results:
Ade is...waiting to hear about Jason.
Cat is going all Seacrest on us tonight! What is up with the switching the order around and changing her usual pattern?
And Jason is in the bottom 2. Bummer. I thought Jason had a better night overall than Ade.
It's down to Evan and Brandon. And Brandon is in the bottom 2. Wow. So it's Jason or Brandon. I sure hope it's Jason at this point.

Season 2 Flashback - Heidi and Travis perform The Bench by Mia Michaels. This dance kills me. And they're so much better than they were 3 years ago. That was amazing. I'm a little teary.

Solos - The bottom two guys and bottom two girls are doing their solos from last night. I hope it's Kayla. And I actually loved everything she did last night. I'll be so sad if it's Janette. Jason's solo is still lame and way too fast. Now that Janette is doing her solo, I realize that I kind of hated it. Especially compared to Kayla's. Brandon's solo was completely AMAZING and he shouldn't have been in the bottom 2.

It's time for RAMALAMA!! I couldn't love this number more if I tried. And I love that Wade is dancing. That was great. Except for the CAMERAS. Scroll down to my link from last night and watch the original routine if you want to see the camera work that Wade designed for the number.

Time for Katie Holmes. Not sure how this is going to go. Could be an absolute train wreck. She does have musical theater training - she did a lot of musicals in high school - but high school was a long time ago. Hold your breath...Wow - she is pretty. I adore that suit. Not a bad singing voice. Not much dancing from her. Very reminiscent of "Roxy Hart" from Chicago - lots of great boys dancing around her, but not much from her. That was...meh. Huge risk for her. She didn't totally embarrass herself, but it was a bit of a non-event for me.

Girls Results:
Janette is going home?!?!?!? NO!!!! Holy cow. Not cool. NOT COOL. She just got Daughtryed. (I can explain that verb to you later if you don't watch American Idol.) People must have thought she was safe because of Mia's huge compliments last night. She's been in so many great routines this season. That's crappy. Kayla looks shocked. She should. Your days are numbered, dear.

Guys Results:
Whew. It's Jason. We were all holding our breath on that one. I mean, I like Jason a lot and he's really improved since the partner switch. From a skill level and based on last night, it probably should have been Evan. Evan got a lot of sympathy votes last night when Nigel was picking on his looks. I'd rather go out on a good night than go out like Randi on a crummy routine.

------------
Dear Nigel -
When we hit 200 episodes, you MUST make this a two hour show. MUST. And no more Katie Holmes.

Thanks,
Macy

What do you think? Were you shocked?

I need to go to bed. Got to get up early and buy pre-sale tickets for the SYTYCD tour!!!

I had the chance to take my stepdaughter's bridal portraits before her wedding last week. If you haven't had the chance, check the rest of the pictures out here.

Pre-Wedding BBQ

We had the chance to get together with Darren's family the night before Darren & Amanda got married. Aunt Bev was kind enough to host us. It was great to have everyone in the same place and have a chance to relax before the big day.

It was such a hot day - I think G-Man drank 10 bottles of water and kept asking for more.

We had a great time and it was a wonderful way to kick off the weekend. Stay tuned for more pictures!

SYTYCD - Top 8 Performance Show

TOP 8! Holy cow!

Cat is wearing a lovely gold wrap halter thing with a slicked back ponytail. Lovely.

I love that Ellen DeGeneres is a judge tonight. She's been such a huge fan of the show. Mia is on the panel too. And we have Dr. Nigel Lithgoe. Mary - "crazy off the chain" is not a phrase you are allowed to use. Cat is fabulous. Did you catch her quote - "Ask Ellen - she's street."

Group Number - ("Let it Rock" by Kevin Rudolf f./Lil Wayne)
Travis Wall choreographed a group number for the top 8. Weird black and outfits with lights. I didn't particularly love it. It was fine, but nothing like last week. Brandon's turn in the air was amazing.

I'm pretty sure I couldn't be more excited about the show tomorrow night. Wade Robson dancing in "Ramalama"? Are you kidding? AWESOME!!

Janette & Evan - Contemporary? Jazz? ("Move" by CSS - Sonja Tateh choreography)
Janette is amazing. She's just an outstanding performer. Evan did a better job in this number than he has in past weeks. I'm not sure how much I loved the number, but I tend not to love Sonja's pieces on first viewing. There were some great lifts. Mary just barked at Nigel. That was hilarious. I think Mary's starting to plan her jokes. They aren't as funny when she's not crazy and spontaneous. I'm not sure the weird mumu and necklace thing is working for Mia. Though apparently, she wants to chew on Evan's cheeks. Janette is Mia's favorite. And I think she responded appropriately on hearing that news.

Kayla - I think that's the best solo I've seen from her. I wasn't at all irritated and didn't feel like she had too many leaps and extensions. 1-888-TEMPO-01

Brandon & Jeanine - Waltz ("May It Be" by Hayley Westrena - Hunter Johnson choreography)
There were some pretty moments there. I was kind of entranced watching Jeanine's face. I didn't even type as they were dancing. I'm enjoying listening to Mary laugh at Ellen as much as I'm enjoying Ellen's stories. "...could have went better..."?! Really, Mary?

Jason - He moves SO MUCH. Oh, there he stopped in the middle of the stage. Now there he goes again. Leap, run, spin, leap run, leap. He makes me tired. 1-888-TEMPO-02

Ade & Melissa - Cha Cha ("Yeah" by some people that are singing in Spanish - Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin choreography)
Those costume designers love when Melissa draws ballroom. They can use up all their fabric scraps and she looks good in them. That bend-over-lift-pose thing at the end was surprising and...interesting. They felt too tall in parts of that dance. It seems like they needed more hip movement or something. Nigel likes it, Ellen makes a carpenter joke, Mary is very specific about their technique and I appreciate her putting words to what was bugging me

Janette - a ballroom/contemporary hybrid solo from Janette. Not sure about the choreography, but she just had a glorious leap. Holy crap! She is short. She barely comes to Cat's shoulder. 1-888-TEMPO-03

Jason & Kayla - Broadway ("Mr. Monotony" from Jerome Robbins Broaway - Tyce Diorio choreography)
Tyce - are you making up another story that doesn't match the music you're using? Wow! I liked a piece that Tyce choreographed? And that Kayla danced in? What is happening? Jason did look like Gene Kelly in that part around the stool. Cat is funnier than Ellen? - "Your report card says, good - must try harder." Mary has a train whistle. She's not going to be able to top herself. Mia wants to crush Jason's chest? She's a violent one tonight. Lovely gushing words for Kayla from Mia. I'm not sure about the Tony after Tony after Tony compliment, but I could be wrong.

Ade - Thank you for wearing a shirt. Lots of movement again, but it seems to fit the music better than his solos usually do. That leap was cool. 1-888-TEMPO-04

Janette & Evan - Rhumba ("Heartless" by Kris Allen Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin choreography)
YES!!! I love this song. Wow. Great choreography. It looked like Evan almost fell a couple times, but he really did a pretty good job. Janette was amazing. Nigel tells Evan he has heavy eyelids. Ellen loves his eyes and thinks it is great that he has a unique face in a town where everyone starts looking the same because they're going to the same doctor. :) Hilarious. The "thread the needle" part that Mary mentioned was one of my favorite parts of the dance. Very, very cool. Double negative!! "She can't help it, no she can't!" Love that it turned into a fight with Ellen. That was great. Mia loves Evan's face too. And so do I.

Melissa - Better pointe choreography for her. That plie where she went clear to the floor and kind of rolled over her toes was cool. I liked that. 1-888-TEMPO-05

Brandon & Jeanine - Pop Jazz ("Battlefield" by Jordin Sparks - LaurieAnn Gibson choreography)
This choreographer was on "Making the Band" on MTV. She's MEAN. She's a great choreographer, but I've seen her make lots of people cry. Our second AI artist tonight. That was a fantastic routine. And they danced it so well. I mean, they da-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-nced it so well. Thanks, Ellen. I'm glad Mia was nice to Brandon. It really was great. My favorite tonight.

Evan - His solos make me smile. I just love them. I know they're similar every week, but I love them. The split leap was great. 1-888-TEMPO-06.

Jeanine - She's so musical. I really love her solos. She needs to choreograph. That was very cool. 1-888-TEMPO-07.

Melissa & Ade - Contemporary ("This Woman's Work" by Maxwell - Tyce Diorio choreography)
This piece is about breast cancer. That was really beautiful. Great piece. Wow. Everyone is crying. With good reason, I think. That was fabulous choreography, story, and it was danced so well.

Brandon - I love the band he's dancing to. They're fabulous. That was a great solo. Very fun, very peppy. Loved it. 1-888-TEMPO-08.

Kayla & Jason - Hip Hop ("They're Everywhere" by Izza Kizza - Shane Sparks choreography)
I'm glad they had a solo to buffer between that beautiful contemporary routine and a hip hop routine from Shane Sparks. Not that there is anything wrong with Shane Sparks, but they should have finished the show with Melissa & Ade. That makeup thing was cool that Kayla did at the beginning. That was a really fun routine. Loved the little jive thing Jason did after he broke Kayla's legs in the dance. One of my favorite hip hop routines of the season. Nigel feels the same. Mia loves the strangling at the end. She's a tad violent, I think.

Kayla was great tonight.
So was Jason in the couple numbers. That crazy solo may hurt him.
Janette is amazing.
Ade could be hurt with the cha cha, but Tyce's dance will save him. Same with Melissa.
Evan could be in trouble.
Jeanine is amazing too. The solo was great and the battlefield dance will eclipse the waltz.
Ditto for Brandon.

Wow. My prediction? Evan and...? I really don't know with the girls. They were all great. Maybe Kayla or Melissa since they've been in the bottom 3 and don't have the votes? What do you guys think? I have no idea.

I do know I'm super excited for tomorrow's show!

A Recipe

Well, we're still in Utah recovering from the wedding weekend. We had a wonderful time with family and still have the opportunity to spend some time with family this week before we go home on Sunday. I promise I have pictures coming - both here and on the photography blog.

Until then, here's a recipe I promised to share. I made it for a post-wedding BBQ we had on Sunday afternoon. It's a recipe of my mom's and I LOVE it. You should definitely try it for your next outdoor/BBQ type meal.

Asian Pasta Salad

12 ounces curly pasta (I use tri-color rotini, but any curly pasta would work.)
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup oil, divided
1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup white vinegar
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cups cooked shredded chicken (I often use the packaged pre-cooked chicken.)
1/2 cup green onion (Can omit if you want. I do.)
1-2 cups torn spinach

Cook pasta and rinse in cold water. Set aside. In small frying pan, cook 1/4 cup oil and sunflower seeds over medium low heat until slightly browned. (Watch the sunflower seeds carefully. I sometimes take them off the heat when the oil starts to bubble. They keep cooking when the oil is hot and it's easy to burn them.) In another container, stir together remaining oil, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper to create a marinade. In a salad bowl, pour marinade and browned sunflower seeds and oil over the cooked pasta. Toss in chicken, cover and refrigerate. Toss in spinach and onions an hour before serving.

It's even better the second day. If it lasts that long.

SYTYCD - Top 10 Results Show

Group Number ("So Much Betta" by Janet Jackson)
Super cool Japanese inspired hip hop number. I guessed it was Wade Robson when it started. I win! Loved that Melissa was hip hop dancing in toe shoes. That was striking and cool and I loved it.

Did Cat comb her hair? Is that a shirt or a dress?

Emmy Nominations are out! SYTYCD gets four nods -
"Mercy" (the door routine danced by Katee & Twitch) choreographed by Mia Michaels
"Bleeding Love" - Chelsie & Mark's OUTSTANDING hip hop choreographed by Tabitha & Napoleon
The Adam and Eve routine that Tyce Diorio choreographed for Will and the red headed girl
The tango that Dmitry choreographed for Chelsie & Joshua
Hair and makeup got nominated too.

Does this mean Cat was robbed yet again as best reality host? I just checked. She was. Tom Bergeron - really? Come on, Emmy voters. I'm glad that Padma & Tom over on my "Top Chef" were nominated, but I still say Cat got robbed. And was Project Runway even on this year?

I'm done. Thanks for letting me vent.

Girls Results:
Janette is...safe. That's great.
Randi is...in the bottom 3. I think that's fair after last night.
Jeanine is...safe. Excellent.
It's between Kayla and Melissa.
And Kayla's safe. Boo. Melissa is in the bottom 3. I don't want either of them to go home.

Guys Results:
Jason is...safe.
Evan is...safe. Fabulous.
Kupono is...in the bottom 3. Excellent.
(Emily has a theory - Randi and Melissa were the only two wearing different outfits from their solos last night. Kupono was obviously wearing a different outfit from last night.)
It's down to Brandon & Ade.
Ade is in the bottom 3. If Ade goes home instead of Kupo-NO, I'm going to be miffed.

Solos:
They're doing the same solos as last night to bid us farewell.
  • I think Debbie had the same hairstylist as Cat tonight. But I love her. I love the fight she had with Mary about how she's over the paso doble. I agree. I agree. Randi is pretty.
  • Kupono is doing his crazy dance from last night in different clothes. I SO hope it's him. Cat - please don't worship at his fashion altar. You've been doing so well with your dresses lately. Aside from tonight. That shiny dress, bad hair and Wet 'n Wild pink lipstick isn't working for me.
  • Melissa is pretty too. Good critique from Debbie on her solo. She needs to take more risks.
  • Ade is doing his crazy, frantic solo. I hope they say something to him. This solo is the only reason I didn't have him in my top group.
The Black Eyed Peas. They really have been great supporters of the show. And now we know where the floating confetti that has appeared throughout the show was coming from.

Final Results:
Girls first. I'm upset either way. Randi is going home. Utah couldn't save her. Durnit. She's so cute. I really hope they do the Mia Michaels butt number on tour. I love that one.

If it's not Kupono, we're going to be really upset here. THANK GOODNESS!! It's Kupono. Quote from Emily, "What a skanky in a hanky shirt." Emily is hilarious. I'm glad he shaved his head. And I'm excited to see the addiction dance on tour.

I'm not happy about Randi, but based on last night, I really think that was the right result. I'm obviously thrilled that Kupono is gone. What do you guys think?

SYTYCD - Top 10 Performance Show

We're late tonight with the update. Wedding prep is ramping up...

Cat Dress Watch - Excellent strapless aqua blue dress with some sassy, fun earrings. Good job this week Cat. Not in love with the smoky eye makeup, but I'll forgive it.

It's over to us, America! Top 10! I must say, I'm very pleased with this top 10. Brandon's nerdy schoolboy outfit for the opening is awesome. I'm sad some of these partners are going to switch up, but it does reveal a lot of weaknesses in the individual dancers. You can see who has been leaning on their partner too much.

Debbie Allen is on the panel this week. She's excellent. Nigel has a weird, shiny suit on. Debbie's comment about it being America's favorite dancer - the person who is still standing in your mind when the dancing is over - is the one who should win.

Group Number - Top 5 Girls (Bollywood)
Excellent. I like this. Get another opportunity to see the girls in a different setting. And seeing who stands out in a dance like this is important in getting votes. Funky little mask part slightly disturbed me at first, but it looked cool when they grabbed arms. Everyone is doing a great job, though I have to say, I didn't notice Kayla until the end when she was the point of the triangle. I did notice the other four. Totally agree with Debbie that this is the strongest top 5 girls.

Solos after the break! I forgot about solos! Hurray!

Kayla & Evan - Waltz ("Kiss From A Rose" By Seal - Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin choreography)
Wow. That's going to be rough height wise. Especially since they got the waltz. Bless his little heart, Evan is extending and throwing his arms and feet out as far as they can possibly go. There were some really nice moments. There was a lift at the end that was lovely. I felt like the turn around the stage at the end was a little awkward with the feet, but I'm not sure. Maybe it's because Kayla is in bare feet. Mary says I'm right about that last sequence of turns around the stage. Evan got the brunt of the criticism, Kayla got the glowing love. Debbie Allen is awesome.

Brandon ("In Your Eyes" by Jeffrey Gaines)
That was fabulous music. And I absolutely loved that solo. Loved when he did the little head nod like he was trying to be cool and then went into the frantic bit again. I don't usually love frantic dancing, but I really liked that. 1-888-TEMPO-01

Janette & Ade - Hip Hop ("Love Sex Magic" by Ciara & Justin Timberlake -Tabitha & Napoleon choreography)
I love that he is using the hair pick to control her in the dance. That is ridiculously awesome. Janette is hitting really sharp, but I think she needs to relax into it a bit more. The part where he got her down on the floor and brought her back up was ridiculous. The judges loved it.

Randi ("Dream" by Pricilla Ahn)
That was lovely. And we all (Emily, Kimmie and I) think she is so cute. 1-888-TEMPO-02. I loved when I drove by the place where she grew up dancing that they had their electric sign set to tell people to vote for her.

Kupono ("Marina Gaolina" - Bonde Do Role)
Not so much. I'm kind of done with him after that solo. Maybe he can change my mind, but probably not. Emily wants to design her own costumes too after seeing his. 1-888-TEMPO-03.

Jeanine & Jason - Contemporary ("If It Kills Me" by Jason Mraz - Travis Wall choreography)
I love how Cat is teasing Travis. I love these two together. Travis came up with some great stuff for them. I Can't believe they were able to do all of that and keep that necklace prop going. Especially when he threw the necklace and she caught it. Jason really danced so much better tonight. I've always loved Jeanine, but I really liked Jason a lot more than I have. They're getting a standing ovation from the judges. Mary's little speechless moment made me laugh. We loved it. But we did feel like there were a couple spots in the show where we were intruding on private moments. Emily hid her eyes a couple times. It was cute. Our first Mary double positive - "Do I think you're a star? Yes I do!" Debbie's right - I think the show does evangelize dance. And I love it.

Melissa ("Gabriel" by Lamb)
Her leaps are just lovely. She's at a bit of a disadvantage when she dances en pointe because she can't get too terribly fancy, but she should because she can. 1-888-TEMPO-04

Evan ("Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart" by Rufus Wainright)
I fully realize that it is the Gene-Kelly-loving-musical-theater-geek-nerd in me, but that was my favorite thing ever. I love Evan. 1-888-TEMPO-05

Kayla ("Rock Your Soul" by Elisa)
Emil.y just told her to calm down. I agree. We don't have to move to every beat of the music. Then the movement means less if you are always moving. She's so pretty though. 1-888-TEMPO-06.

Randi & Kupono - Paso Doble ("Dies Irae" by Carl Jenkins - Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin choreography)
I don't like that they are together. He bugs. Emily says that Melanie's hair has been that color since she (Emily) was 10. I love that Emily knows that. Randi tries, bless her heart. Interesting hair. Paso is hard. HARD. They're not doing so well. Kupono really isn't strong here. Emily doesn't like the dragging, skirt grabbing sequence. She covered her face. Then when she fell at the end, she was rocking and saying "please make it stop." I have to agree. Emily says, "The trouble with Paso, is that it is such a partnering dance. It's such a hard dance when you have a new partner. If there is a weak partner, there is no way the other person can look good." I wish there had been another ballroom style in the mix for this week. I guess they'll be switching partners every week, so it really doesn't matter. Yikes. Other than this dance, it's been a pretty good show.

Ade ("Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers)
Yikes dude. Slow down. Great pirouette and back flip though. My head hurts from your crazy movement and lack of musicality, but you sure can turn. 1-888-TEMPO-07

Jeanine ("Violento" by Bailongo)
She's far more musical in her solos than a lot of these dancers. I don't go crazy watching them. She's in the lead for my favorite dancer. 1-888-TEMPO-08

Jason ("Train Fare Home" by Muddy Waters)
Interesting muisc choice. Fun movement. I'll remember what he did, and he's not driving me crazy to watch. And Cat does a southern accent! Awesome! 1-888-TEMPO-09

Melissa & Brandon - Broadway ("Aquarius" from the new revival of Hair - Tyce Diorio choreography)
This could be awful. It might be great, but it could be awful. Love her makeup and costume. That was a great opening shot. Cool flips from Brandon, and I really did love the movement. I think this is the first piece of Tyce's that I've liked this year. They did a great job. Both of them are just amazing dancers.

Janette ("This Is Miami' By Sander somebody)
This is her first solo. Quite the compliment to her that Emily didn't know that Janette was ballroom. And we all feel that was an acceptable ballroom solo. 1-888-TEMPO-10

Group Number - Top 5 Guys (African - Jeffrey Page choreography)
Poor Evan. Just not fitting in here. Good for him bringing a funny moment in there at the beginning. And I'm watching him for not good reasons. Brandon is doing really well. So is Ade and so is Jason. I don't feel like this is the best male top 5 they've had. I like alot of the guys, but I'm not worried about losing some of them like I am with the girls.

My favorites tonight based on all three dances:
Brandon
Janette
Jason
Jeanine

I really liked Melissa and Ade in their couple and group numbers, but their solos could have been stronger.

I loved Evan's solo, but his performance in the group number and his waltz wasn't up there with some of the other couple dances.

Who did you vote for?

SYTYCD - Top 12 Results Show

Group Number - Very cool choreography. Military costumes, they're kind of doing this rock/hip hop fusion thing. Love the way they used the whole stage. And I didn't want to smack the cameramen quite so much. Tabitha and Napoleon did the choreography. Very cool number.

Cat has a fabulous dress!! Fabulous hair! Kind of mod 60s look going. Legs for miles.

Last night for the judges cuts. I think it's all votes from here on in. I can never remember. And it's Nigel's birthday. Fabulous Cat quote - "Mary looks surprised about that." Highlarious.

I'm SO bummed they didn't get clearance for the Michael Jackson show. Nigel was talking about that on Twitter and I thought it sounded like a fabulous idea. Silly clearance people. Tyce - I'm over the Brooklyn toughness with the accent. You can't pull that off, sweetie.

RESULTS:
First two couples on the stage are Caitlin & Jason and Janette & Brandon. Fun to see the review of the dances last night. Especially Janette & Brandon. Caitlin & Jason are in the bottom 3.

Now we have Randi & Evan and Phillip & Jeanine on the stage. Did we have to show Phillip's totally crappy barrel rolls again? That was awful. He just wasn't into the floor at all. That jive was adorable though. I just love Jeanine. I hope a girl wins this year. Jeanine's outfit for her solo?! Yeeikes! Randi & Evan are in the top 10!! Woot! Nigel is talking about how the judges know on Thursday morning who is in the bottom 3 and that they take their entire body of work on the show into consideration when making cuts. Interesting to hear that they have already decided who they should keep in the competition, but that the solo can change their minds. Not sure how I feel about that.

Melissa & Ade and Kayla & Kupono are on the stage for the final grouping. Oh, that addiction dance kills me. It's been all over Facebook today. Kayla & Kupono are in the top 10 and Melissa & Ade are in the bottom 3. Bummer. I'm surprised, but I'm not. Mia's dance was just so moving and they danced it so well. I'm sure they got a lot of votes. Randi & Evan have a huge voting block. Janette & Brandon were flawless last night. Melissa & Ade were good, but they really needed to be great last night. I'm super excited to see their solos. And I think this pretty much guarantees Caitlin and Jason are going home unless something completely crazy happens.

We get to see footage from this fall. That bow tie kid is amazing. Interesting that the tour is going to be going on while the fall season is airing.

SOLOS:
Caitlin - That did nothing for me. I like the music she picks though. She looked nervous and kind of phoned it in.
Jason - Going for the shirtless thing again. He keeps coming up with these frantic solos and they keep telling him to knock it off. That was crazy to watch.
Jeanine - Much better solo. More musical. Better choreography. Still hate her dress.
Phillip - This dude is crazy amazing. I can understand why he has such a hard time picking up on some of the styles though. His movement is so based in isolations.
Melissa - She's cute. I really like her. That was a good solo. I liked that side split thing she did to the floor.
Ade - COOL music. That flip was sick. You go, dude. Glad he got a standing ovation from the audience. That was ridiculous. And I'm glad he took his pick out of his hair.

Love that Cat just looked at the judges and said, "You are in trouble!" Cute.

Someone is mixing at a table with Kelly Rowland singing. I'm just glad we have live singing. I like Kelly Rowland. But I don't like this song.

RESULTS:
They're unanimous for the girls. And it's Caitlin. She's a doll, but Nigel is right in saying that they need stars at this point. And she hasn't been one - a great dancer, but not a star. If she'd had the energy from the Bollywood routine every week, she might have done better results wise.

They're also unanimous for the guys. And it's Phillip. WOW. I'm surprised. And interesting how Nigel made sure we all know that Phillip will be on the tour. In a way, it's probably a good idea to send him home. Jeanine is strong enough that his lack of technical skill wasn't a problem for her. She managed to shine through his partnering. He might really drag another dancer down next week. That happened to Kherington last summer. That, and they drew a lame two-step dance. Very sweet speech from Phillip at the end. He's definitely an inspiration.

Wow. Excellent top 10. Do you guys agree with the results?

The Memory

G-Man's memory, that is. It's starting to alarm me the way he remembers things. Like today for example. We were in a Michaels Craft store in Massachusetts about a month ago looking for some ribbon. When we were in the store, we saw some cute felt hats and G-Man wanted to try them on.

So, today, we went to Michaels in Orem. We had been at JoAnns Fabric looking for some ribbon, and went to Michaels to see if they had a bit more. We walked in the door, G-Man looked around and looked up at me and said "Hats. Where hats?"

We found the hats. He put one on, and looked up at me and said, "I say cheese. Cheese!" So I took a picture:

Then he tried on a different hat and said, "I go show Molly and Alice." So, we walked through the store until we found Molly and Alice and then he wanted another picture.

I didn't think he was going to part with the monkey hat for a minute. I really had to convince him the monkey hat was staying at the store.

Stories like this are becoming more frequent with him. I tell Diggity all the time when they happen and he's been really kind to listen and smile and be interested. But I'm not sure if he really believed my stories. Can't blame him. Then last Sunday when we were at church with Matt and Emily, he and G-Man were walking down the hall during Sacrament Meeting, and G-Man looked up at him and said, "Daddy! Let's go get grapes!" In February, I performed my motherhood cabaret-style recital at a women's conference in Nashua in a church that had the same floor plan as Matt & Emily's church. Diggity and G-Man took several walks during my performance and stopped a few times in the kitchen to get grapes from the women who were preparing the luncheon. And he remembered just from being in a similar building. It's wild.

SYTYCD - Top 12 Performance Show

Cat Clothing Watch - She's sporting a sassy 30's (or 40s? I don't know.) dress and hairdo. Lovely, lovely.

Two dances from each couple tonight. I love it. Tyce is on the panel tonight. I don't know if I love that yet. Someday, I hope to talk to my friend who knows and has worked with Tyce about Tyce. Tyce confuses me.

Melissa & Ade - Disco
("Move On Up" by Destination - Doriana Sanchez choreography)
It's too bad that wasn't the first disco of the season. Lots of great energy, but I actually felt like Melissa was a little clompy with her feet. The lifts were outstanding. Too bad he dropped her at the end, but they had such fun with it. The jidges have universal love for the dance and for Melissa and Ade. And Mary is leading revivals tonight, calling for "Amens" from Tyce.

Kayla & Kupono - Contemporary ("Gravity" by Sara Barialles - Mia Michaels choreography)
Okay. I am not huge Kayla & Kupono fans. But I watched this performance twice and haven't listened to the judges yet. I really loved that piece. They were both so committed to the story and to the movement. It was moving. I got teary both times I watched it in the middle of the piece where she is trying to get away and he keeps grabbing her and holding her back. Then the part where it looked like he picked her up by the neck...amazing. Wow, wow, wow. They should be so proud of that. I may actually vote for them.

Caitlin & Jason - Foxtrot ("Minnie the Moocher by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin choreography)
Melanie's back! I like Melanie. Caitlin's got the sweeping bangs Emily taught us about last week. I'm watching with Super Kimmie tonight, and she has already pronounced this boring. I think the foxtrot is usually boring, but that's just me. It's tough to have such a structured dance following such an emotional performance. Nigel says they did some incredible things and had great footwork. Mary says it was tremendous. Tyce starts out Paula Abdul-style and tells them they look like stars tonight, then says something about being more smooth or something like that. I quit listening. I defer to Mary on all things ballroom.

Jeanine & Phillip - Russian Folk Dance ("Kalinka" - Traditional Russian folk song and some Russian people did the choreography. Sorry. I don't want to rewind.)
Ouch. Jeanine was actually pretty good. This stuff is HARD. I've been to Russia and seen the dance - and it's hard. Phillip wasn't good at all. I really didn't think he danced well. The turnover was the only part he did well. He just needs to be more grounded. Nigel hated the dance, but not the dancers. Mary was positive with them. Tyce was very positive about the way they excecuted the dance they were given.

Randi & Evan - Hip Hop ("Halo" by Beyonce - Tabitha & Napoleon choreography)
I loved Randi's face when she found out the story of the routine. That was fabulous. The routine was very fun. Very shiny and happy and fun. It really fit them. I'm really glad they didn't have to be all krumpy and urban and scary. The judges liked it too.

Brandon & Janette - Argentine Tango ("Libertango" from Forever Tango - Some tango dancers that spoke Spanish with Janette did the choreography.)
That was FANTASTIC. Super Kimmie and I just kept saying "wow" throughout when they would hit something really cool or do cool footwork. Standing ovation from the judges panel. They deserved that. That was outstanding. Brandon got the first double negative - "You're still not dissapointing me, no you're not!" And she shimmied with Tyce. That was great. And then Tyce compared them to squeezing orange juice. Not sure I followed that analogy. 1-888-TEMPO-06.

Round 2! The partner switches start next week!

Melissa & Ade - Waltz (A Natural Woman by Mary J. Blige - Ron Montez choreography)
Melissa was just lovely. Nice spins from Ade. The lifts were beautiful. Very, very nice. Mary called one of the waltz steps "twinkles." I think that's funny. Melissa got the double positive - "You are mesmerizing, young lady, yes you are." Then Nigel got an even better quote from Mary - "Pipe down, English muffin!"

Kayla & Kupono - Broadway (The Dance at the Gym from West Side Story - Joey Dowling choreography)
I've liked Joey Dowling so far. But I'm not sure how the musical theater purist nerd in me feels about that number. That music has such a strong connection to the show for me, to see this happy-in-love couple kind of bothered me. Especially since they didn't really commit to this number like they did to the first one. Tyce was right - they did need to get into the floor more. Evidently, Tyce likes a good shimmy.

Caitlin & Jason - Lyrical Jazz (Show Me Heaven by Maria McKee - Mandy Moore choreography)
That was lovely. I think Jason's costume will get them some votes, if I'm being honest. It was technically great, and really effortless and nice, but if there had been more connection between them, it would have been stunning. I'm sad they missed a bit of an opportunity to blow people away. It was great, but it could have been amazing.

New Glee commercial!!!

Phillip & Jeanine - Jive ("Stuff Like That There" by Bette Midler - Tony & Melanie choreography)
Okay, who loves Jeanine? Raise your hands. *raising hand* She's one of my favorite female dancers. She nails every performance. She's adorable. I just love her face. I don't think I watched Phillip very much. Sounds like he did well. Like I said, I really didn't watch him much. Mary puts Jeanine on the Hot Tamale Train. I love watching the screaming Botox face. Tyce encourages us to call 1-888-Fan-friggin-tastic! That CRACKED me up. I'm still laughing. What a goofball.

Randi & Evan - Samba ("Ritmo De Bom Bom" by Jubaba - Pasha & Anya choreography!!)
I would have loved to have seen Pasha & Anya dance that. The two of them would have been so amazing. Randi & Evan were really just doing steps tonight. Not so much connection between the two of them. I'm sure they were nervous. Evan looked especially nervous. Randi also gets a ticket on the Hot Tamale Train from Mary. Tyce made some weird hissing noises.

Janette & Brandon - Jazz (Ruby Blue - Roisin Murphy - Wade Robson choreography!!)
I love Wade. The coolest concepts. The BEST music. (TR! It's the same girl that sings the Ramalama Bang Bang song!) Wade is stinking amazing. What a fantastic routine. And danced so well. The judges are in love. Love that Wade and Amanda are wearing the glasses in the audience. 1-888-TEMPO-06 We'll see that dance on tour. And speaking of tour...

Tour dates here! (September 22 in Boston!)

------------------------
Loved it, yes I did:
Melissa & Ade
Janette & Brandon

Loved the first dance, Not so much on the second dance:
Kayla & Kupono
Randi & Evan

Might be in Trouble, Yes they Might:
Caitlin & Jason
Jeanine & Phillip

--------------------------
Super Kimmie kept one of the episodes from last season on her DVR. We just watched this dance from Katee and Joshua and this favorite from Mark and Chelsie. Good times.

As you may have guessed, I'm in Utah for the next couple of weeks, so the posts will be a bit delayed. Can't wait to hear what you think about tonight!

SYTYCD - Top 14 Results

Group Number:
The kids are dancing to "Brand New Day" from The Wiz. They're in a painting and an art museum closes and they bust out of the painting and begin dancing around. Now is where I usually complain about the camera work that makes me miss half the dance. I'm not going to belabor the point. I think I'm going to send a hateful tweet to Nigel. I have that power. :) I was highly distracted by Kayla's nude leotard. Her costume was completely different from the other girls' costumes. And it was nude fabric. It makes you look twice whether you want to or not.

First Group for Results - one couple is safe and one is in the bottom 3:
Vitolio & Karla are...in the bottom 3.
Evan & Randi are safe!

Second Group for Results -
Brandon & Janette are...safe.
Kayla & Kupono are...in the bottom 3.
Ade & Melissa are safe!

Mia liked Kayla & Kupono's performance the most last night, and is SHOCKED! Me, I didn't love it. It takes 3 or 4 viewings for Sonya's pieces to grow on me. I'm sure if Kayla & Kupono make it on the tour, we'll see that one and I'll like it more.

Third Group for Results -
Phillip & Jeanine are...in the bottom 3. (WHAT?!?)
Jason & Caitlin are safe. They're lucky. They're talented, and I like them. But they're lucky.

Emily just said that it doesn't look like Cat combed her hair tonight. I have to agree. It also seems like she messes it up every time tey go to commercial.

Patricia & Desmond from Complexions Contemporary Ballet are our special guests tonight. That girl was in her opening pose en pointe forever. She rules. That was fantastic. So talented. So strong.

Solos:
Karla - I liked that one. Not as manic as last week.
Vitolio - I didn't love that one. Can't tell you why exactly. It didn't jive for me.
Kayla - Is it me, or does she open every solo with an extension? I didn't love it, but I don't htink they are sending her home.
Kupono - That was a bit more restrained from him too. It seemed more musical. Wasn't too flashy. That could be good or bad.
Jeanine - Interesting music choice. Did she fall backward and lose her balance in the middle? I like her. Let's keep her.
Phillip - That was fantastic. There's no way they'll get rid of him at this point. They need him for tour.

Kelly Clarkson! I love Kelly. I don't love her outfit. The way the shirt is cutting her across her hips, it makes her look short. And she's already short. And the extra fabric isn't helping either. But man, she can wail. Love her. I believe that is the first performance I've watched all the way through this season.

The judges are deliberating. I think it is Vitolio & Karla.

Final Results:
Jeanine is safe! Hurray! Kayla is put on notice. Too many kicks and arabesques and not enough dancing. Karla is sent home. I'm sad to see her leave, but she never quite got her personality out there.

They're keeping Phillip. Nigel gave a long and kind of rudely drawn out speech to tell him that. They're giving Kupono one more week. Vitolio is going home.

I'm happy with this choice tonight. Next week is going to be awful. The last week before top 10 always is. See you then!

SYTYCD - Top 14 Performance Show

Cat's Outfit: Cat is wearing a sassy pink dress with pockets. Not loving the belt.

I'm watching with my sister in law Emily tonight. She has an impressive ballroom pedigree and lots of experience, so I often defer to her on the ballroom stuff. She claims she isn't as good a judge as she used to be since she hasn't danced for a while, but she's pretty spot on.

Janette & Brandon (Cha Cha - Jean Marc & Paris Generaux choreography)
That was great! What a fun, fun dance. Brandon winked at the audience. We don't wink at the audience, Brandon. They seemed really sharp and really great. Nigel is very enthusiastic about the performance. Wow. Forgot that neither of them had done their style yet. Hot Tamale Train from Mary. Mia has been hard on Brandon, but was very complimentary tonight. And stated that she feels he is very talented and that she will be hard on him because of it.

Kayla & Kupono (Jazz? Contemporary? - Sonya Tayeh choreography)
That was cool. That pirouette that Kayla did was fantastic. Kayla's legs are amazing. I just wish I liked the two dancers more.

Evan & Randi (Broadway - Joey Dowling choreography)
I adore this music. Love the Fosse inspired choreography. That was very cute. Interested to hear what the judges say. Nigel loves Randi and gives Evan a bit of a hard time. Saying that this is Evan's style and giving him a hard time for not doing well isn't particularly fair. Fosse choreography is nothing like Gene Kelly choreography. Mia doesn't feel like they didn't quite measure up. I liked that number, but I'm a total musical theater geek and was thrilled that they were doing Fosse choreography to a song from a Fosse show. Okay. I'm done geeking out.

Caitlin & Jason (Pop/Jazz - Brian Friedman choreography)
Wacky premise for the dance. Kind of a weird dance. Definitely unique. Nigel liked it, kind of. Mary didn't like the dance, but loves the two of them to pieces. Mia doesn't like the tin foil. I didn't either. It was distracting. Now, that's not the dancers' fault, but it does distract from what they are doing.

Phillip & Jeanine (Hip Hop -Tabitha & Napoleon choreography)
I'm loving the chain concept in the rehearsal. The dance was amazing. So sharp. So cool. I really liked that. They're cute

Melissa & Ade (Classical paux de deux - Thordal Christensen choreography)
Pretty sure this wasn't a random draw. But it was SO BEAUTIFUL. I love Melissa and Ade anyway, but seeing her in her style was really a treat. It's not only her technique, she's just a stunning perfomer. Loved it, loved it.

Nigel announces the Dizzy Feet foundation that helps kids learn to dance. And Katie Holmes is performing on the 100th episode.

Karla & Vitolio (Quickstep - Jean Marc Generaux)
Emily told me a secret about ballroom hair - she said that Karla's bangs are off to the side that she has to lean when she's in the quickstep frame. It helps give the illussion that she's leaning the right direction. That was such a fun dance. They did a good job with the choreography and I loved the concept. Judges were positive too.

Dug it:
Janette & Brandon
Randi & Evan
Jeanine & Phillip
Melissa & Ade
Karla & Vitolio

Kinda liked it:
Kayla & Kupono

Nope:
Caitlin & Jason

Bottom 3 Couples Prediction -
Caitlin & Jason
Karla & Vitolio
Kayla & Kupono

Possible that Randi and Evan could be in the bottom, but I think the Utah voters will pull them through. What were your favorites? Did you love the ballet as much as I did?
