About this? I'm starting to feel like I'm going to have a 12 year old that carries around his blankie and sucks on his two fingers. He started the habit on his own - the two finger sucking started when he was a couple months old and would hold his taggie blanket like he's holding the giraffe in the picture above. We introduced the little animal blankets to wean him from the taggie blanket. He has to sleep with one of the three animals we own - the duck (which he calls "duh-duh-duh" when he sees it), the giraffe and a monkey. Will he get rid of this habit on his own just like he started it on his own? Diggity and I have tried to keep the blankies out of his sight until it is time for him to go to sleep, but sometimes he pulls it out of his crib or spots it in his diaper bag. Then you can't get it away from him until he is distracted enough to forget about it. Any other suggestions out there?
He's dancing in front of the TV right now to the theme song for "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse." He's very enthusiastic about this song. I'm a little worried he may hit his head on the entertainment center.
G-Man has been taking some tentative steps the last few days. He sees something he wants and starts walking in that direction. Then he realizes what he is doing and falls to the ground. We have not been able to document this event yet, but we have both witnessed it, so you can believe us that it is really happening.
We're still painting. The yard work has begun. It's going to be a busy few weeks around here.

Hey, he's not even a year--I wouldn't worry about the sucking his fingers or carrying around the blankie. He'll outgrow it. (Kyle used to carry minnie everywhere--even when she lost an ear--and I haven't seen him doing it lately ; ) In fact, I bet I could find pictures of each of the kids at one time or another with a blanket)
I'm beginning to think when I see him next week he'll run up to me and say "Hey, grandma, how's it going?"
Ann Dee sucked two fingers and carried a blanket for years. Ask her about it.
Just be sure the blanket is waiting for him when he comes home from kindergarten....a little comfort is priceless. Rhonda
I know the feeling. Ian wasn't a thumb sucker, but he wouldn't be seen without his pacifyer. Addie drank her milk out of a bottle until last month! She is 3!!! She drinks out of a cup during the day,but at night she wants a bottle. I asked the dr about it last year, and he said: she isn't going to go to kindergarten with a bottle. she'll grow out of it. And she did. Ian grew out of pacifyers (I did help with that...we couldn't find any around one day and he didn't seem to notice so I took advantage of it...and well, he is cured now.) I wouldn't worry about it. Kids change SO fast. Ian loves babies and dresses and girly things right now. But because he is my second, I know he will grow out of it. let him be a baby, and when he is old enough to start "trading" or negotiating, he will have grown out of it by then for sure. He is soooo cute though! Enjoy this baby stage. He won't be there for long.
i'm with the others. don't sweat it. he's a baby! he'll gradually wean himself away from it. even my kindergarten kid sucks his thumb still, but not at school. we've tried to break him of the habit, but i know he'll do it when he's ready. he must still need that comfort right now . . .
I always said we would NOT have that kid that had to have a specific animal or blanket etc - even at night. I was all stressed about giving Lily a different blanket every night and then all of a sudden it just snuck up on us and here she is - 4 years old - attached to "Baby Bear" (a little green stuffed bear) and "Blue" (a very small PIECE of light blue flannel)... ay ay ay...
Thanks everyone. I'll relax. :)
