Numbers

(Disclaimer: this is not my scale and those are not my legs)

I saw a number on the scale today that I never thought I would be happy to see. But I was very, very happy. Because the number that I saw today means that I have lost 13 pounds since I last weighed myself a month ago. Woo hoo!

This was an encouraging turn of events after these things happened in the last month:
1. My nephew patted my stomach and said, "Baby?" (His mom just had a baby and has lost all her weight already. She looks awesome.)
2. My neighbor came out to relieve me from helping shovel our driveway because I "should take it easy right now." Then he patted my stomach too. (I got out of shoveling, so I didn't feel TOO bad.)
3. After attending a choir concert in Utah, I got an e-mail from the mom of one of my students congratulating me on being pregnant again. (She didn't know. And I had to tell her I wasn't pregnant. That was terrible.)

Baby weight is hard. I had my reasons and excuses. I won't bore you with them - it really came down to being too busy to exercise and eat correctly. Now that I'm home more, I can eat better and the weight has been coming off even though I still haven't been exercising on a daily basis. When I look at the amount of weight I have lost so far (with not much work on my part), I really am happy with the numbers. But I still have more to go - because I gained too much to begin with. But now I'm way more encouraged.

I'll let you know when I hit the goal. For now, I'll be accountable for exercising more as part of my 2008 goals. Which I'll be posting soon.

Wow! Good for you!!! I can't imagine losing 13 pounds in a month--I would be so excited. I'd love to know your secret==especially when the holidays were part of that month. Good luck with your goals--can't wait to read them.

If it makes you feel any better, my wife is due with our third in a few weeks, and I have gained all of HER weight, and I don't have excuse. Is there such thing as paternal "sympathy weight gain"?

Ok. I'm just glad those aren't your legs, 'cause DANG! They are a little hairy. :)

Congrats on the weight loss. I have lost some from Sam, but seem to be stuck at my current weight. Bleh. Good on ya for being able to lose it!
