Honky Tonk Thanksgiving 2.0

We're in Nashville right now. My brother goes to law school down here and since he has so much studying and school related stuff going on, their family usually stays here for Thanksgiving. Their first Thanksgiving here, we came down to visit and called it "Honky Tonk Thanksgiving." Well, we're back. It's version 2.0! My brother graduates this Spring, so we figured it was our last chance to visit Nashville. And we also wanted to meet my new nephew Miles.

He is 9 weeks old and is very cute. We're glad we got to meet him. He's a delightful young man. His big brother Isaac is also delightful and is developing a unique sense of fashion:

We have had a great time here. We arrived last Tuesday night and went to do a little sightseeing on Wednesday. We had lunch and went shopping in a cute little town called Bellbuckle. This is G-Man with his uncle Matt outside the cafe.

We also visited here. It was a very interesting tour. And the lemonade they serve at the end was delicious. They also take a picture of you before you head out on the tour:

On Thanksgiving morning, my sister-in-law and I went to do a 5K in a nearby town. It was a great way to start Thanksgiving. We ran part of the way, which was exciting for me. It felt good to run again. Here is us at the finish line:

(Yes, she is the one that just gave birth to the 9 week old baby. I am not filled with the bitterness I would normally feel in looking at how cute she is, because I know she has worked very hard and exercised throughout her pregnancy, which I did not do.)

After watching my parade (my mom told me when I was little the parade was for me and I still believe it!) and cleaning up, we went out for Thanksgiving Dinner to make it easy for all of us. This turned out to be a fabulous decision. We went to the Loveless Cafe. They literally have the most amazing buttermilk biscuits in the whole world. I realize I often express myself in hyperbole and you may be inclined to dismiss that last statement, but I promise I am being accurate with that remark. I probably could have eaten an entire meal of biscuits.

We spent time hanging out on Friday and Saturday. We also made sure we watched the BYU/Utah game on Saturday afternoon. My brother graduated from the U and my sister-in-law graduated from BYU, so this game is always a big event in their home. Miles wore Utah clothes like his dad and Isaac was in BYU gear like his mom. Diggity graduated from BYU, so he's already indoctrinating the G-Man.

I found the game upsetting. That's all I'll say. Then last night we went to see the lights at the Opryland Hotel. G-Man loved it.

The one sad thing about this fantastic trip is that G-Man has been sick. He caught his first cold and every time he coughs or laughs, he sounds like a 60 year old smoker. We've been doing everything we can to make him comfortable, and he is still remarkably happy considering how he must feel. Last night was a little rough. He was up coughing most of the night. I just feel so badly for the little guy. I really hope he feels better tomorrow. We're flying home and I'll be on my own and it will be that much harder if he is sick.

Sounds like you had a great time. I was AT the game on Saturday. It was fun, but I thought I might be in for a long ride home during those last two minutes. My date is a diehard BYU fan (even though he graduated from the U!) and he started to get really silent during those last two minutes. . .

Thanks for the pictures of Matt and Emily and the latest addition! Wasn't it a deliciously long weekend?
I think I could live with 3 days on and 4 days off on a regular basis.
I watched the BYU/Utah game by TiVo - and missed a couple of the questionable calls that made it bitter for the Utes...next year.

We should have gone out for this Honky Tonk Thanksgiving. I didn't think about it being their last on there. Oh well.
