G-Man Had a Hard Day

Yesterday was a rough one for G-Man. It started out okay. We watched some Little Einsteins and went to lunch at Qdoba and played with Mr. Toby. As the day wore on, I noticed he was breaking out with allergy welts on his face. (I don't know what they are actually called, but they're the little red zit things he gets if he eats tomatoes or strawberries.) We think he might be allergic to Mr. Toby.

Then, we decided to go swimming, and the real fun began. G-Man had a great time at first - wading in the shallow end, throwing his toys into the pool. But he decided to run along the side of the pool where the concrete was a bit wet, and he went down for the count. On his face.

Diggity and I decided it was time to stop swimming and go inside. G-Man didn't agree. So, Diggity was kind enough to let him walk around on the side lawn for a minute. Until G-Man picked up the doggie poop scoop. Diggity took it away, G-Man started to cry. And then he really started to cry. We figured he just needed a nap, but Diggity was moving swiftly to the pool as he had fire ants biting his feet. I looked down at G-Man's feet and he had fire ants on his foot too.

There are actually more bites around the back too. 20-30 or so in total. He ended up with more than Diggity (though Diggity also cut his toe when trying to get to G-Man after the face plant.) His foot swelled up pretty quickly, so we gave him Tylenol and some children's Claritin and put calamine on his bites. They're much better this morning.

Poor little guy. Sounds like a tough day. I sure hope he's not allergic to Mr. Toby. (Maybe it was something he had for lunch--or maybe Diggity's facial hair ; )
Those fire ants had to hurt big time.

I'm glad he's doing better this morning. Give him a hug from this grandma.

Poor G-man! I totally feel his pain - I hated pulling weeds when we lived in GA because you never knew when you would come upon some of those nasty fire ants and boy are they fast.
