The DC - Day 2

We spent a lot of the second day like this:

Since I couldn't help unpack boxes (that work was all finished - thanks to Emily's mom), I tried to help Emily by being her navigator as we explored the area. We went to Target first so I could get some diapers. We needed a bookstore to find a map, so I suggested we try to find Tysons Corner. (If you've never been to the suburbs of DC, it's a huge, fabulous mall in Virginia.) We found the mall, had a delicious lunch a t a place called Five Guys Burgers & Fries and then let the kids run around the play area. (Is it just my experience with these play areas, or are there always a few kids that are too tall to be there that aren't being watched by their parents? Drives me crazy.) We found a Barnes & Noble and got a Metro DC area map for Emily (the big book kind) and headed back to the apartment.

That night, we went to my FAVORITE restaurant in the DC. It's called Sweetwater Tavern. (Thanks, Rebecca!) They have fabulous steaks, delicious rolls and a flourless chocolate waffle for dessert. Turns out they also have fantastic salads. We ate our salads, got our chocolate waffles to go, and ate them at home while the boys played outside.

Matt & Emily's townhouse is awesome. We've had the chance to visit them three or four times in Nashville and I've been impressed with their ability to make use of small spaces. They had some tiny apartments there (ti-ny), but still made us feel so welcome and comfortable in their home. Well, now they have this:

Yup, that whole thing is theirs. Three floors. Four bedrooms, three and a half baths. Huge playroom downstairs for the boys. It's great.

View of the side of the townhouse.

The best part of their house though, has to be what is right outside their front door:

Yup. The community playground is adjacent to their townhouse. G-Man would run for it every time we walked out the door to get in the car. It's infested with mosquitoes, as any good outdoor space in the East is, but it is so fun.

After the chocolate waffles were gone and the boys were done playing, we had to do this:

All together now - "awwwwww!"

Looks like a great place. Hope Matt and Emily and the boys enjoy it.

Not very many pictures where G-man isn't smiling.
