Grandma Marsha's Bench

The funeral was today. It was a very nice service - it was nice to see so many family members I hadn't seen in a long time and some people from our ward growing up that were kind enough to come. Afterward, we went to the cemetery for the graveside service and went up to my mom's grave first. Grandma Kimmie and Grandpa Tom were there with Macy, G-Man and Isaac waiting for us. We got a couple pictures on my mom's bench, (My dad had a granite bench installed under the trees next to my mom's grave. It's a really peaceful spot.) and then walked down to my grandparents' plot.

(G-Man is mad at me because I was thoughtless enough to take this picture before going to give him a hug.  I guess I can't blame him.)

What a lovely idea--a special bench installed near your mom's grave.

Looks like it was a lovely day. I'm glad.

Macy- Do you know why I check your blog almost daily? There are many reasons....first your updates on the same shows I watch cuz you always have it right!.....second I ALWAYS check your diet coke updates! LAUGHING! I too am still trying to quit! Thanks for helping feel okay about my lack of will power!

Yvonne - the bench really is nice. It's engraved with a poem my uncle gave us called "Leaning From Heaven's Gate"

Melissa - I'm happy to help. :) It doesn't help me that I'm in fountain soda land at present.

It was good to see you today and I still can't get over the musical number. All the granddaughters sounded and looked beautiful. Thanks for your help with the road trip and for the Celtics T-shirt. Don't worry about it if Diggity can't get one.

i love that you have a bench by your mom's grave. i must say that we rarely visit my dad's grave. that sounds so sad, but i think we just prefer to remember him other ways and it just feels to painful to be at the cemetery. i really should go visit it the next time i'm in whittier. hmmmm.
