Getting to Know Me...

I received this in an e-mail from my friend Emily and thought it would be a fun post. Except now "Getting to Know You" from the King and I is stuck in my head.

1. What is your occupation? I'm a school teacher, vocal instructor, wife, mom and stepmom.

2. What color are your socks right now? I'm not wearing socks. I'm wearing my awesome American Fork Cavemen slippers. I try to avoid socks as much as possible.

3. What are you listening to right now? The Screen Actors Guild awards on TNT with G-Man's sleep CD in the background coming through the monitor.

4. What was the last thing that you ate? Yummy quesadillas with sour cream chicken. The sour cream chicken (at least that's what I call it) is the easiest thing in the world to make.

Sour Cream Chicken
4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts - frozen
16 oz. container of salsa (I use mild)
8 oz. sour cream

Place the frozen chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of a crock pot. Pour the salsa over the chicken and turn the crock pot on high. Cook for 4 hours. After 4 hours, take two forks and shred the chicken. Add the sour cream and turn the crock pot to low, cooking for another 30-45 minutes.

You can use the chicken for tacos, burritos, quesadillas, salads, nachos - anything you want. It's very tasty.

5. Can you drive a stick shift? My high school car - Monty the Montero - had a stick shift. Because of a traumatic experience while driving Monty, I still get very nervous when I come to a stop sign at the top of a hill and I have to get started again. I had to do it yesterday. It was scary.

6. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Red.

7. Last person you spoke to on the phone? My sister Molly. She had a little scare this morning and had to go to the hospital. She was calling to tell me that everything is okay.

8. Do you like the person who sent this to you? Of course I do! Emily is one of my oldest friends. We've been through much together.

9. How old are you today? (Doing math...) I'm 33.

10. Favorite drink? Diet Coke. I am trying to drink lots of water instead of Diet Coke though.

11. What is your favorite sport to watch? Football. Boston Red Sox baseball games. Tennis.

12. Do you play any Fantasy sports? I was in a Fantasy Football league at the junior high where I used to teach. I would always start out really well, and then would run out of time to keep track of it.

13. Have you ever dyed your hair? Under protest, yes. I had to dye it brown for a show. It is a distracting color when the lights hit it. My head glows. I had quite an identity crisis for a while. I didn't realize how much I identified myself as a redhead. I liked it brown though. And it faded out to a really cool auburn color.

14. Pets? Nope. I'm allergic to most things with fur and neither Diggity or I are up for the effort that goes into upkeep. Or the mess.

15. Favorite food? Never met a food I didn't like.

16. Last movie you watched? I just watched the end of Titanic on TV. The last movie I saw in a theater was National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Meh.

17. Favorite Day of the Year? Wow. I've never thought about that. I don't think I can pick one. One of my favorite days last year was the day G-Man was born.

18. What do you do to vent anger? I don't get angry very often. It's years of teaching junior high. I couldn't afford to lose my cool. If I do get upset about something, I usually call Diggity or Molly and vent depending on what is bugging me.

19. What was your favorite toy as a child? I know I played with my Cabbage Patch Kid a lot. I spent a lot of time reading and making up dances to Broadway soundtracks.

20. What is your favorite, fall or spring? I used to say fall. Now that I live in New England and have to rake thousands of leaves (though they are beautiful, beautiful leaves) in the fall, I say spring. My birthday is in the spring and I love getting outside and cleaning up the yard.

21. Hugs or kisses? Kisses.

22. Cherry or Blueberry? Chocolate covered blueberries. :)

23. Living arrangements? Sweet colonial house on a cul-de-sac.

24. When was the last time you cried? This morning.

25. What is on the floor of your closet? Carpet. Shoes. My baseball cap that I wore to the gym on Friday.

26. Who is the friend you have had the longest that you are sending this to? Since I don't know who is reading this, I'm not sure. You'll have to leave a comment if you think it is you.

27. Who is the friend you have had the shortest that you are sending this to? Again, I guess you're going to have to nominate yourself in the comment section.

28. Favorite smell? Things baking in the oven and the smell of onion and garlic sauteing in olive oil.

29. What inspires you? Hard working teachers, young people accomplishing great things, my husband, watching G-Man learn new things.

30. What are you afraid of? Because of some of the life events I have experienced and watched others experience, I'm not afraid of much happening to me. I know that everything works out for the right reasons. Though, I was quite frightened by the garden snake that lives under our deck. He slithered out of a pile of leaves and really freaked me out.

31. Plain, cheese or spicy hamburgers? Cheeseburger....mmmmm.....

32. Favorite car? My car. Miguel Manuel Santa Fe. (He's a white Hyundai Santa Fe. We've been through a lot together and he's the first car I ever purchased on my own.)

33. Number of keys on your key ring? Three. I used to have many more. When I turned in my school keys in Sudbury, I significantly lightened my keychain.

34. How many years at your current job? This is my tenth year teaching school (holy cow!) and my fifth year teaching voice lessons. I've been a wife and stepmom for 2 1/2 years and a mom for 9 months.

35. Favorite day of the week? Tuesday. I just like it.

36. How many states have you lived in? 5 - Utah, California, Indiana, Ohio, Massachusetts

37. How many countries have you been to? 12 - Mexico, Canada, Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, England, France, Japan, Germany, and Austria

38. How many good memories do you have with the woman you sent you this? So many with Emily - high school shows, college classes, camping trip to Zion National Park, Young Ambassadors...great, great memories.

I now tag...anyone who needs a list of questions to answer for a post. :)

Great list--that was fun. So many things I didn't know. Glad to hear Molly is OK. I don't think you've lived until you've driven a stick shift in San Francisco ; )

I would cry if I had to drive a stick shift in San Francisco. I refuse to drive there. I know my limits.

I was just thinking, "I need a good crockpot recipe."

Thanks for reading my mind.
